Tankette’s Rambles

Hmm, I could improve a few things

I think my strongest point for Tankette has been getting well geared. I’ve got gear as good as other Prot Warriors in my guild that have been raiding for much longer. I think I am only being realistic to say that my gear is better than my actually playing skills.

While I was in a meeting at work I drifted off to think about: “What can I do significantly better while tanking?” Here’s the things that came to mind quickly.

Intervene and Intercept. I don’t use these enough and when they are crucial. If I could switch to beserker and intercept quick, I could save a healer. Intervene should be simpler. I guess I just haven’t used either enough to remember them when things are hairy (which is when they are so important).

Thunderclap and Demoralizing Shout. I know I need to use these more in boss fights. Again, the adrenaline gets pumping and I forget. Also, at the beginning of a fight I don’t want to waste a global cool down for anything but the biggest threat moves. I guess Tclap and DS also do significant threat so that is probably not a valid worry.

I’m going to work on these so they are second nature just like Devastate, Shield Slam, etc.

  1. TClap does a fair amount of threat. Fully talented anyway. Demo Shout is not really a threat move. Demo Shout exists more for mitigation than threat. DS does a whopping 56 threat (unmodified) on a single target. This is a good chart on threat, and not just for warriors:

  2. Forgot: If you have any dps warriors along, it’s far better for them to keep up Demo Shout than you. Quite a few people let them TC as well, but I personally like to TC 🙂

  4. I also used to have issues with Tclap / demo and other shouts.

I now use a combination of Chronometer and ShoutReminder to tell me when they’re about to expire. Works wonders.
