Tankette’s Rambles

Leo wins again, another ZA run, etc.

No raid on Saturday. I did a lot of farming and helped my son and his friend get the arcane tomes they needed to get exalted with Scryers. Better shoulder enchants and epic rings for both of them.

Last night it was back to SSC. Lurker was still down so we paid Leo another visit. The trash pulls went a lot better than last time. Leo gave us a smackdown though. It was our second night or attempts so we still are learning. I think we gave it 7 attempts before we called it for the night. We got a little better each time and on the 6th attempt we got him to about 50%. On the final attempt our MT dc’ed during the initial pull.

Our first big problem is positioning. The clothies keep getting mowed down during his whilrwind. Picking up Leo after the whilwind was also problematic.

And then there’s the inner demons. The first time I got it I kept mistiming my spell reflect and only got my demon to 50%. It was very frustrating to blow that and then be mind controlled. The second time I got an inner demon I timed my spell reflect perfectly but he only cast the one shadow bolt the whole fight. I had him at 22%, just short of execute, before I got mind controlled again. The party was wiping anyway. I ended up mind controlled and hanging out with Leo after the fight. Once everyone rezzed they Lock summoned me away from Leo and killed me. Pretty funny.

As frustrating as wipes are, the consensus was that we made good progress on the fight. Maybe we’ll get him the next time.

We do SSC again on Thursday and this time we are going after Hydross for the first time.

After SSC last night 10 of us went to ZA. We wiped on the last pull before the bear boss due to CC’s being resisted. We took down the boss on the first attempt but due to the wipe we didn’t beat the timer. Maybe next time. The gauntlet to the eagle boss went smoothly and then we took him down easily. We looked around a little bit to figure out where to go next before we called it for the night. We decided that the dragonhawk will be next.

I need 38 more badges to get my Sunguard legs.

  1. Hey 😀

In terms of picking Leo up after he whirlwinds, the best way we do it is have at least 1 of our shamans drop a searing totem in the middle. Leo will pretty much always target the totem immediately after his whirlwind for some reason, so if your tank is standing near it, s/he should have no problem picking him up. GL!

  2. Thanks Speidel. We started doing that with a totem and it helped. I actually hit intervene and took Leo’s shot at the totem. Prettty funny.

We had 3 tanks (2 warriors and a druid). I think the strategy might be to have the MT just wait in position and have the totem thrown by him while the other 2 tanks follow Leo around during his whirlwind trying to get aggro.

The bigger problem was keeping the clothies alive during the whirlwind.

  3. Good luck with the dragonhawk boss – I think I’d personally rate him as the hardest encounter in there. If you’ve got a paladin tank along with you, though, it gets a lot easier very quickly.

  4. Killing your demon on Leo can be hard. But, since the fight is pretty threat sensitive with all the aggro wipes, you can confidently wear high threat gear which for the most part will be your high dps gear also. Make sure you are in battle stance, not defensive so you don’t get the 10% damage reduction but not berserker stance since you can’t reflect from zerker. If you can tell you are going to cut it close or if you have bad luck with reflecting shadow bolts, pop recklessness.

  5. I’m with you on all that Rochelle except “pop recklessness”. I am sure that is probably something I should know but I don’t. I am guessing it is a tinket? My tinkets are a weak part of my gear. I have the Vengence card and the stamina trinket from Violet eye and that’s about it. I can’t even get Moroes to drop his watch after 10 or so runs.

  6. Shield Wall is your 30 minute cooldown in defensive stance, Retaliation is the 30 minute cooldown in battle stance, _________ is the 30 minute cooldown in berserker stance.

    😛

And you need to have a talk with Moroes and convince him to give you that trinket, it is the best trinket in the game.

  7. LOL, shows how little I have used beserker stance! More to learn, I love it!

I’ll be talking to Moroes about that watch every week.
