Got Legs, Successful Heroic, First Trip to Hyjal

Filed under: Uncategorized — tankette @ 1:05 pm

As much as I have heroics-phobia, a guildie talked me into tanking Heroic Arc yesterday. We had a solid group including my son and most importantly someone who knew every pull in the place. We had a few wipes but it was so low pressure running with good friendly people that it was far from the stress fest that I have experienced before. 4 fairly easy badges.

So I got my Sunguard legs finally! I don’t know how accurate Be Imba is but my rating shot up quite a bit with the legs. My Be Imba score is now 214.92 and that supposedlt means I’m geared well enough to start Mount Hyjal and BT.

What a coincidence, our GM decided to take us to Hyjal so we could start getting use to the place. We only had 22 people and only 4 were healers so we didn’t have high expectations. We made 3 attempts and got to the 6th wave of mobs each time. The waves of mobs made for complete chaos but it was a lot of fun. Everyone gained reputation so we are all halfway to friendly. I think some recipies open up for our crafters at friendly. I think we are going to give Hyjal another try soon.

I think my next badge reward target will be the bracers. Still thinking about it.

  1. Grats!! Those legs are badass. The fact that you guys got to wave 6 with that group is pretty damn impressive. I’d say keep going back in there. The trash drops are worth it (tanking cloak) and all you really have to do is get to Rage Winterchill, he’s a joke.

The bracers would be a nice expertise upgrade, but I think the girdle of the fearless would be your biggest upgrade from looking at your armory. But I dunno if you’re down for hoarding another 75 badges >.<

  2. I agree with Spiedel. The belt is going to be a much better upgrade than the bracers. Bear in mind that you’re over 490 defense, so you’re throwing away a hefty chunk of the itemisation.

Also hit and expertise are going to do a lot more for your threat than crit and strength.

  3. …throwing away a hefty chunk of the itemisation.

on your current belt. Resilience is completely useless over 490 defense. I could have made that clearer.

  4. I already have two belts that I can’t decide between: The Crimson Girdle of the Indomitable and the Vindicator’s Plate Belt. I had been using the Crimson Girdle since it it obviously a tanking belt until I realized both EP/GP and Be Imba rate the Vindicator’s belt significantly better. It is a trade of about 4% avoidance for more armor and a little bit more stam as near as I can tell. I haven’t sat down to do the math.

I would assume if I had the Girdle of the Fearless it would easily outclass both of those two belts?

I’m getting about 30-35 badges a week so it won’t take long get both the belt and bracers. It is just amatter of choosing between them. And then there is also the Gnomergon Autoblocker and the 60 badge cloak (can’t remember the name atm) that I want.

  5. Be Imba is wrong in this case, I think. 4% avoidance is huge, so I’d be using Indomitable.

Either way, the Girdle of the Fearless is an enormous upgrade. I only don’t wear it because I’m already hit capped, and I need to wait for some other upgrade without hit rating on it to drop before I switch.

  6. I wonder if Be Imba just uses item levels to do the score?

I’m still over 500 defense with the Vindicator’s belt. I definately still need more hit and expertise though.

  7. Well, there’s 2 sides to tanking. Threat generation, and survivability. And I think what pieces you choose depend on what you need as an individual. If you find yourself dying, then look for pieces heavy in avoidance (aka, wait on the belt). But if you’re staying alive fine, you should probably look into threat generation pieces (belt!!).

I’m running 37 expertise skill and 74 hit rating, and I still want more. The autoblocker is fun to have, but hit and expertise is infinitely more valuable.
