Tidewalker down

The third night of attempts on Tidewalker went pretty much perfectly. One-shot with only 3 raiders dead. After 2 nights of struggle it was really amazing to have everything click. The biggest difference for me personally was getting a 7th healer into the raid and me getting 4 healers instead of 3. I was never really in trouble. 3 healers for the raid kept everyone else alive too.

We started to go hit Hydross after the new kill but diverted to Fathom-lord. Almost none of us had seen the fight or read strategies so we were not prepared. We talked about it for 30 minutes before finally making the first pull. Somehow the hunter’s pet got loose from the pally tank’s concecrate and wiped us quickly. The second attempt went so much better. We dropped the hunter and his pet first. Then we dropped the shamman. At that point Fathom-lord started spewing fireballs out of his totem and we werent ready for that. Up to that point he was laughable because he doesn’t hit very hard, at least compared to Tidewalker. So his fireball totem killed my healers and then me and then the other tank that came to help. The rest of the raid had already downed the healer at that point but it was too late to recover. Still, only the second attempt and we got his 3 adds down and Fathom-lord to 80%. The third and last attempt went bad but I am pretty confident we’ll get him down next time. Then we’ll be 5/6 SSC.

Tomorrow night we’ll be in TK again. Voidreaver is an easy kill for us now so we should get some time to do Solarian. Solarian should be easy if everyone has DBM set up correctly so they know to run away when they have bombs. That was our problem on our first night.

My blogging will be more limitted going forward. There has been less things to write about lately and I can’t access the blog from work. I was probably boring people to tears with descriptions of all the farming raids anyway.



  1. Gz on the Morogrim takedown!
    That fight really is about healers staying alive and not pulling agro from the Murlocks (I assume you used a Paladin tank for those?), and conversely keeping the MT alive as Morogrim does hit rather hard, even on a well-equipped tank.

    The think about bringing an extra healer is that if you have 2 or 3 healers sent to the watery grave at the same time, your tank won’t be left with too little healing.

    Don’t worry about Solarian, as long as people run out (yell to the person over TS/Vent and don’t be shy about it) and you handle the adds, he’s a pushover. Even though my guild only did him once before we lost too many raiders and stopped raiding, I really think he’s actually easier than VR. We actually managed to down him on our second night of trying, and even on our best we were not some “uber” raiding guild 🙂

    Fathom-lord is *damn hard*, I kid you not. 80% still leaves a lot of time for things to go bad, even a little mistake/slacking by the healers can cause people to start dropping like flies and wipe the raid. Don’t mean to scare you, just be prepared to eat a few wipes ;p

  2. Fathom-lord was pretty tough but we got him. I don’t think he’ll be so hard now that we have him figured out.
